I enjoy new things.

My daughter left some empty crayon boxes on the island in my kitchen. I absconded with them.

I kept seeing really cute tag boxes for photos.

I think I’ve managed to make what i envisioned.

I made hubby take me shopping for some extra ribbon to finish the tails.

You pull the tags out then when you are done you pull the tails and reset the tags into the box.

More of my Book babies: Difference between a Large and Medium book

A large book has 6 pages. 3 of the pages are envelopes and the other 3 are fold out. Each page gets decorated then the front and back cover. It takes days to figure out what paper and what kind of embellishments. I use so much adhesive, glue and tapes. It always shocks me how much tape I’m using. Scor-tape, a big ATG, even Scotch double sided, oh and duct tape too maybe even some paper tape for decoration. IMG_20141004_055047 IMG_20141004_055100 IMG_20141004_055122 IMG_20141004_055135 IMG_20141004_055146 IMG_20141004_055152 IMG_20141004_055159 IMG_20141004_055205 IMG_20141004_055209 IMG_20141004_055213 IMG_20141004_055217 IMG_20141004_055221 IMG_20141004_055237 IMG_20141004_055242 IMG_20141004_055249 IMG_20141004_055304 IMG_20141004_055313 IMG_20141004_055323

Now here is a medium

A medium has 3 pages, one is an envelope, the other 2 pages are fold outs.

I really enjoyed these two 1950’s police box planners.

These are a labor of love. The mediums seem like a vacation after a couple of large ones. I made a medium in 24 hours once but that was all I did while I was awake that day.  I ate standing there deciding on papers, I even got up in the middle of the night to stare at it. 🙂

I’ve always wanted to make books and thought when I started writing it would take care of the craving, but thank heavens I took that scrapbooking class!

Working on books but not writing them?

I’ve got three covers made and glued. Two of the books I forgot to put Tyvek in and had to back track but I’m a firm believer in “Not a Problem,” attitude on my crafting.

Two little front books and one 1950’s British Police box book.

Here’s the Forest Book. I did a FB Pole and it won. I did do a mini planner before it but the muse took control.

I just love this book if I were going to keep one it would be this but not happening. 🙂

New again?

I didn’t go back to bed after sending Hubby to work but did this instead. IMG_20140822_064438 IMG_20140822_064456 IMG_20140822_064547

Got to admit I’m surprised. I thought I’d do a big book next. Now my paper poll is all thrown off.

It’s made out of the extra little bits we cut the other day. It’s the size of the fold over piece on the big planner. Taking it to the store today to see if I can find a paper pad that will fit it.

Ok it’s about 5pm and this is what I’ve done.

I’ve not used up every bit of space.

Need to decide on a closer.

Left page is an envelope at the top too.

Again envelope at top.

Dollar two year calender.

Lace looking area is a pocket and right area has a slide in pocket.

Little slide in pockets and a scrap paper pad.

I have one more coat of Modge Podge and then I need to trinket it up and add stickers.

New Book

So can anyone guess the theme of this book? I’ll tell you at the end.

7 Book outsides.

Little book ideas and a tiny little scrap.

Gluing inside spines.

Mostly done.

Another frame for easy change. The R is a hint.

Part of the after mess.

This is a big planner.

The name of this planner is “Team Rocket” in case you are still confused that is a Pokémon reference.

DD’s Planner

I saw the video for this planner on You Tube. It’s another of the Kathy Orta creations. I had a deep desire to build it but did not want to own a planner so I created it for Darling Daughter.

So here is my version of the planner.

I wanted a month at a glance so I made a slide in frame for the little calendar I bought in the 1$ section of Michaels. The calendar is made of a heavy enough paper it slides in and the post it tabs is glued half way so the second page can slide in and out. I tried fastening it but it needs to move to much.

You can see the top tab on this page. There are four different symbols so it can be easier to find where you need to be.

The page on the left is a expanded envelope that loads from the top.

Two pages of business card storage.

DD asked for places for business cards so I came up with this using pretty paperclips for extra support.

I was going to attach the year calendar on the inside cover but decided it would get to worn there and just slipped it in the pocket.

I used an elastic band to hold the paper pad in the book.

The Paper is from The Paper Studio’s Tattered and Worn paper stack. The back cover from Our Family Tree also The Paper Studio. I bought a set of The Paper Studio’s inspirational stickers for the inside of the book.

I used assorted glues and tapes, but want to make sure no one else buys the little 3 $ on sale pack I bought. I would never buy it again. You get what you pay for was very true in this case. I’ve bought Recollections stuff often at Michaels so was very surprised at the quality.

I got two figuring my grandson could use the other glues and I’d use the adhesive tape roller. Big mistake. Both rollers broke inside.

Done with my rant for the day.

I’m trying to find a place to get scor tape without breaking the bank. I used hot glue attaching the back cover to the book and did not add the pocket that was shown in the Kathy Orta video. It has so much storage I honestly just didn’t want to bother. My DD will be using a giant rubber band to hold the book closed. I and my Grandson use the giant rubber bands on our tablets and really like them.

Don’t believe the numbers!

I ran across another Kathy Orta video series for a Paperback Mini and it was a 2 @ 2 so I thought I’d do it in a less feminine paper. I am trying to stock up on books for Christmas time. I use WI Fi away from the house for YouTube videos because of my sad rural air card and it’s limited data plan.

Last night I asked Hubby if we could go to Chicken Express cause my 2@2 video had a 3rd. I started downloading and decided to check for a 4 just in case.

LOL and ran across this   9 videos for a 2 @ 2 ROFL. Got to admit I laughed.

I’m sure I’m not going as far as Kathy did because I was looking for what she started with, with a cover. I’m going to find out how she put her cover on when I get a minute to head into town and sit for the rest of the videos.

Here is my start. I used blue Celebrate it 1 lb bags. 3.5 x 2 in x 6.75 I found at Michael s.

I can’t express the enjoyment I get out of her ideas. Thank Kathy Orta!

Halloween in June Entry

Can’t express how much I’ve enjoyed making books from PaperCrafter45’s YouTude videos. Papercrafter45

This little beauty is just 3 envelopes as the base. I used mostly scrap to put it together. I see a story in the pictures and will be finding some corresponding pictures to compliment the book.

The paper is from Recollections Night and Fall Paper Pad. I wish I’d bought two now.

The challenge asked us to use this beautiful picture in a project. I printed it on an old plastic sheet from a long gone plotter. I just love the way it shimmers. My laser printer had no problem with it at all.

Ok Everyone let’s say SPOILED.

Hubby took me to Longview TX today so I could see the Brother ScanNCut.

We visited Sharman’s and I got to touch it!!!

I guess I should explain Hubby saw this very cool toy at Hancock’s Fabric when I was picking up a shorts pattern for Grandson.

He took me back from the door to see this cool thing. I haven’t stopped talking about it since I saw it. Every moment I’m near Wi-Fi I’m looking at Videos. Smile

I found out Sharman’s was a dealer so I asked out right to go have lunch at Papacita’s and visit the Sewing store.

Mom, Daughter, Grandson and I hopped in the car with hubby and had a wonderful lunch at Papacita’s before heading to Sharman’s.

Got to admit the fabric demo didn’t go well, but I’d already seen many videos so I knew it did work. They were using a very old mat and the original blade they’d been demoing on since they opened the box. I pulled out the paper I’d brought to try out and asked her to use it.

A little blue flower and I was sold. Then she let me touch it and I cut a word into an old plotter sheet I about jumped up and down.

I didn’t change the blade depth from paper so the letters stayed in the plastic paper and I just love it.

Needless to say Hubby said buy it! I didn’t argue I whipped out the Card and said charge it!

Congrats daughter for winning the bet that I’d bring one home. To bad Mom. Smile

Even before the family was fully out of the driveway I was unpacking the box.

My new toy.

First cutFirst try

This is my first cut.

Here’s my second.

I’m going to use this on a special little family book for Grandson.

I cut out a Scrapbook frame from a sheet of red paper. I used the scrap on a plain sheet to make a negative page.

Left overs after cutting out complicated page Grandson asked me to cut out for him.

I got this pattern from the included book. “Cut up this book.” Grandson said, “It’s from Frozen, you know Olaf’s song about Reindeers.” Then he started singing the song to me.

It only gave me half so I had to scan, copy, flip, meld and cleanup. Hard when your Corel Photo Paint is so old it’s Antique. (Photo Paint 10)

I cut it out of regular black construction paper and will never do that again. It wasn’t heavy enough. I’m going to use spray adhesive to attach it to a sheet of plotter acetate so it can be hung at a window.

This tool has just replaced every punch I have. They will all be moving to daughter. What’s weird is this will take up less space.

I’ve been spoiled well today and am exhausted.

Thank you Hubby!
